I drove to the nearest florist/ food market and found this bouquet of mixed flowers which were the perfect antidote for another gray day!!! A vase of roses of one color are lovely but a kaleidoscope of roses of beautiful colors is amazing! "Kaleidoscope VII" is an oil still life painting inspired by a collection of roses sent to me by my daughter. It is always so nice to have fresh flowers for my studio still life set up! No frame is needed for this painting as the canvas is gallery wrapped around the sides and the sides are painted as well.

The French word for sunflower is "tournesol", which means "turns with the sun". Can't you see it happening here in my oil landscape painting of the warm yellow petals ! When summer arrives I imagine myself walking along narrow roads in Tuscany, Itlay, enjoying the sunflower fields. I became taken with these large blooms while there. . Custom Framed in black/gold frame.

Often it is the texture of a flower that makes me want to paint them even more than the color variations which I also love. I had these two cheerful blooms which remained fresh longer than others in a larger bouquet. I experimented with a cool gray background in this floral oil painting titled " Two Is Better Than One".
